World Mahjong Federation: Overview Gameplay Scoring Penalties & Errors

Initial Points

All players start with 0 point. If you are playing casually everyone can start arbitrary points.

Criteria

At least 3 faans is needed to mahjong. At least 3 faans(including 'Reach')is also required to declare ready(Reach).
Sacred discard(Furiten)is in effect.-You cannot win by discard if you are furiten.

Outline

A portion is calculated by squaring the total value (Faan) of a winning hand.
NOTE: The maximum of Faan is (set by) 20. Therefore the maximum of 1 potion is 400.

  • Win by a discarded tile: Discarder pays winner 3 portions.
  • Win by self-drawn tile: Each player pays the winning player 1 portion.

1 Clean 1 The hand which Pong, Open Kong, or Chee has never been executed.
2 Selfdraw 1 Winning on a tile drawn from the wall.
3 Reach 1 The special action - Reach - is declared. (The hand must be concealed.)
4 Seat Winds 1 Hand includes a pung (or kong) of the player’s seat wind.
5 Quarter Winds 1 Hand includes a pung (or kong) of the prevalent wind. (quarter wind)
6 White Dragons 1 Hand includes a pung (or kong) of the white dragons.
7 Green Dragons 1 Hand includes a pung (or kong) of the green dragons.
8 Red Dragons 1 Hand includes a pung (or kong) of the red dragons.
9 Picking up Supplement 1 Winning on the supplement tile drawn after declaring a kong. Counts as self-drawn.
